The Scallybelly Munias as well as Blacckheaded Munias are illegally kept and sold by dying its wings to show it as exotic foreign birds to unsuspecting customers. Some religious people purchase and freed them from cages in memories of their forefathers. this practice is more in Delhi. I have noticed this bird near Yamuna Bank Delhi but after a close watch also noticed the bad patches near its beak, probably due to the allergy of coloring.======= Photo Aug 2013, Delhi
